The name itself reflects melody. Lata Mangeshkar is supposed to be Didi for her family and industry.Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28th September 1929 to classical singer Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar and Shudhamati. Her greatest achievement was lyricists Kavi Pradeep's Song "AE MERE WATAN KE LOGON " composed by Music Director C.Ramchandra to pay tribute to those martyrs who lost their life during Indo- China war which was sung with such depth that it brought tears in eyes of India's Late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

She was, perhaps, the most sensational of the 'singing stars' who dominated the silver screen through the 1930s and '40s. A luscious voice coupled with a vibrant personality, ensured Noorjahan's rightful place in Hindi cinema's hall of fame.Noorjahan was born in 1929, in Punjab's Kasur village. She studied music under Ghulam Mohammed Khan and apparently had a brief stint on stage as well. She started her career  with  the K D Mehra's Punjabi productions in Lahore. But it was Dalsukh Pancholi's hit musical Gul E-Bakavali that first pushed her into the limelight.
