Asha's enchanting.
"Dil Cheez Kya Hai Aap Mere Jaan Lijea" in Umrao Jaan is perhaps one of the most exquisite songs ever sung in a Hindi film. Soulful
ghazals, charming love songs, seductive cabaret numbers (Who can forget
"Piya Tu Abto Aaja"?), Asha has sung all of these with equal ease.
She is among the first Indian singers to make records in the west. She's made music with Stephen Luscombe and with Boy George. Her Indipop albums have been chart toppers and have established her popularity with the younger generations. Over four decades of playback singing and 12,000 songs to her credit she is still going strong. Asha Bhosle's voice only seems to grow richer with each passing year.
