1. Satvika or peaceful and doing penance.
2. Rajasika or like a king-full of power and valour hence adorned with jewels.
3. Tamasika or terrible as a destroyer and we worship Lord Shiva in all these three forms.

Art is a means towards Salvation or 'Moksha'. There are three paths towards Moksha-namely Jnanamarga or the path of knowledge, 'Karmamarga' or path of action and 'Bhaktimarga' or path of devotion. Of these Bhakti Marga or devotion is the easiest which the artists follow.

Robert Bridges in his 'The Testament of Beauty' says, 'Beauty is the highest of these occult influences, the quality of appearances in the mind of man. And art, as it creates new forms of beauty, awakened new ideas that advance the spirit in the life of Reason to the wisdom of God'.
