On redeeming feature, however, about them is that they always remain students, inquisitive, ever-learning and ever-experimenting with new ideas. Their principles in art which they imitate from several teachers might be in opposite directions and hence theirs is usually a hotchpotch of many conflicting ideas.

5. The Artiste Imitative

These artistes who thrive on imitation of other artistes claim that they are self-taught and that they have a natural gift to copy others. They are common in fields of art such as music, dance and painting. Lacking originality their endeavours in any artistic field make them artistic rovers. As they are good imitators quite often they hoodwink the public by claiming originality in whatever they do. At times they get quite an ovation for their successful original imitations but when the public come across original forms, they get disillusioned. Such artistes, however, are useful in that they keep alive the public interest and to a certain extent help them in the appreciation of good art.

6. The Artiste Workman

These are the usual craftsmen whose main approach to any art is purely from a business point of view. As mammon is their main object of worship they are clever enough to cater to the demands of their employers. As such they have changing standard. There are many families who have retained some form of art of craft as heirloom.
