Without these folk dances, the lives of the villagers will be dull. As they give them joy, inspiration and a sense of oneness, everyone forget one’s own status and takes part in the general rejoicing during the folk dance performance.

Folk dances can divided into four varieties.
1. Cultural or Semi-religious folk dances
These are performed to appease the local village Deities of evil spirits or ghosts for the betterment of the village society. These group dances have sanctity and sacredness.
2. Social folk dances
These are performed during marriages, naming ceremony during cradling or even death ceremonies. When the villagers her any good news, they will express joy through these group dance.
3. Warrior dances
These are performed just before the tribal people go for a big hunt or for war with other tribes. These develop a sense of power and valour amongst the performers.

4. Seasonal dances
