Punjab :

Baloch Jhumar :

'Jangli Jhumar' is another dance in which the dancers use their fists instead of sticks and do powerful movements with their arms. Another form of this dance is the 'Cheena Jhumar' in which the dancers clap their hands.

Yet another form is the 'Dhamal Jhumar' in which the dancers approach the drummer in the centre and dance.

Gidha :

This is the dance of the women in Punjab. As usual, the women form a circle, clap hands - their own as well as those of others and dance around the 'Dholki' player in the centre - Dholki being a small drum compared to the big drum of the bhangra dance. The dancers sing Gidha folk songs sometimes extemporising as in Bhangra which are called 'Boliyan'. There are the usual shouts of joy and fun at the end.
