Maharashtra
:
Kolyacha Nach
This is folk dance performed by the fisher folk of Maharashtra and
Konkan. In this dance, fishermen called 'Koli' and fisherwomen called
'Kolin' stand in two rows, move forward and backwards like the movements of a boat in action and dance gracefully.

this dance, cymbals and a leather drum called
'Dholki' are used. As the fisher-folk live their lives at the mercy and vagaries of the sea-waves and everything connected with the sea beaches, their dances also represent the same movements of Nature surrounding them.
Tipri and Goph
This is similar to 'Pinnal Kolattam' as explained earliest. Different coloured tapes hang from the top. The dancers hold the tape and beating the rhythm with 2 wooden pieces called
'Tipri' they dance weaving a set pattern when the tapes get entwined in the process and again get released to the original position.

Dindi
In maharashtra there are religious, devotional dances called 'Dindi' and
'Kala'. These dances describe the playful attitudes of boy Sri Krishna.
'Dindi' is a small drum like a 'Tamate'. The 'Tamboori' player, 'Mridangam' player and a Vocalist give the dancers the necessary musical
back ground. This is usually danced on the 'Ekadashi' day in the month of
'Kartik'.
