Garbi:
This is a men-s' dance dedicated to Amba Mata and is performed during 'Navarathri' festival. They keep a lamp in the center or a basket called 'Javara' containing wet mud,

rice and wheat or they keep a wooden square structure called 'Mandavadi' having 'javara' in it and dance gracefully singing at the same time. Men wear very colourful costumes and this is a spectacular dance.

Ras:
This is very important dance of Gujarat performed mostly be men, and sometimes by women also. On rare occasions both men and women dance together. As the name itself suggests, this is in honour of Sri Krishna and Gopi-s. In ancient texts, it is referred to as 'Hallisaka'. This has three varieties - 'Danda Rasak', performed holding sticks, 'Tal Rasak' - holding cymbals and 'Lalit Rask' in which the dancers depict 'Bhava' or emotion.

It is performed during "Sharad Poornima", 'Navarathri' and 'Janmashtami' festivals. In the Danda Rasak', the men perform Kollattam striking  the sticks in their hands to those of other dancer in the group, jumping, circling and at the same time singing well-known songs. As the dance progresses, the tempo also progresses ending in a crescendo. There is drummer and a 'Shehnai' or harmonium player accompanying the dancers. The songs describe Sri Krishna Leela.
