The dances by men are performed to the accompaniment of songs and musical instruments and they strictly adhere to the rhythm of the music. But, the women tuck their hands, sing and dance in their courtyards in circles. The folk dances of women are 'Jata', 'Jaten-Nach' Sama "Urakua Nach", Jhighiya nach. However, the only mixed group dance by men and women is the 'Saturi nach' of Mithila. Another curious dance is the 'Bacho nach' performed by a married couple, on the occasion of the birth of a child. These apart, there are many more religious folk dances in Bihar.
