Dhuliya :
This dance is full of physical exercises. The instruments are Dhak Dhol, a big dhol, Jai Dhol, Bar Dholo, cymbals and flute. In this there are various gymnastic jumps, sword play, stick lay, wrestling etc. As such, this is specially meant for men.
Devadhani :
The Devadhani woman worship the serpent Goddess Mansadevi. All through their lives, they remain as maidens dancing to the goddess ecstatically, telling the future and giving advice to others. Before a dance, a Devadhani woman breaks the neck of a pigeon, drinks its blood and loosening her hair, starts her dance. At first her dance is of slow tempo and as it proceeds the speed increases and while dancing her hair turns round and round. Finally, due to exhaustion she falls down on the ground.
Ojapali :
The Muslims of Assam describe the stories of 'Karbala', sing the 'Jari' songs, beat their chests and dance. They sing the 'Jhikar' songs of Shaha-Milan or Azan Faquir, clap and dance in circles.
