Andhra Pradesh:

Poroja:

In Vishakapatna and Gajam districts, there is this agricultural tribe called 'Poroja' or 'Bonda Poroja'. Their women wearing white sari-s up to their knees, rings round their fingers and having tattoos on their legs and hands dance with heavy brass anklets around their ankles to the rhythm of their special drums. They create varying patterns with their bends and foot work and go round and round.

Khonda:
Even this dance is found in Vishakapatna and Ganjam districts. But they dance this after sacrificing a buffalo. They enter the dance arena to the playing of the Nagari called 'Mallaiya' and dance in gay abandon round the sacrificial buffalo. They have in their hands a sword and green branch. The dance afterwards becomes general with all the assembled people taking part in it and dancing ecstatically.
