What part of you torso is moving?
Is it your upper chest and shoulders? Not ideal!
Lower chest? Abdomen? Side and back? That's better.
This part will need a little practise. Best way to observe is to watch a baby or young child sleeping. Notice how the lower chest and abdomen moves?

TENSION POINTS
Do you feel tension in your shoulders? Neck? Jaw? Teeth? Anywhere else?
Tension within the laryngeal area includes the muscles of the neck and larynx.
This may result in any of the following:
Pain; dryness; huskiness; vocal fatigue; creak in the voice; tightness; inappropriate pitch; constriction in the neck; breaking of pitch; breathiness; a hard and unpleasant tone.

WATCH OUT FOR:
Situations which may lead you to put your voice through unnecessary stress:
Places where there is loud background noise, forcing you to shout over heads.
Having to repeat yourself over and over again Stressful or frustrating situations.

Although you may not be able to avoid a lot of situations, just by being aware will help. And remember, don't shout if you don't have to. Over the years, I myself have noticed that shouting with a full-throated voice almost immediately ends me with a sore throat, so I have my own system developed where I shout but not fully and certainly never with a full-throated voice!
