11. Hot drinks and a good sweat seem to ease cold symptoms. One recipe is one eighth of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper, the juice of a lemon, a minced clove of garlic and a gram of vitamin C, all mixed in half a cup of hot water. Sip it slowly. Both the garlic and the cayenne should make you sweat; the lemon juice is rich in vitamin C and
bioflavinoids, which are claimed to help your system to absorb the vitamin.
GLOBUS HYSTERICUS - 'Lump in the throat'
A condition also called globus pharynges, in which there is an uncomfortable feeling of a 'lump in the throat'. This lump interferes with swallowing and breathing, sometimes so much so that the sufferer is convinced that he or she cannot breathe. Respiration comes in sighs or gasps, anxiety increases, and hyperventilation (rapid breathing) and symptoms of a panic attack often ensue. Some patients insist their Adam's apple has become larger or displaced in some way.
