She has since continued her singing and upon moving to London in 1984, sang freelance for a lot of bands before finally forming her own. Shama launched her debut album, Forever Yours in 1995. The album consists of 8 original songs sung in Hindi. The sound is definitely Bollywood, with the full orchestra set up of violins, cello, strings - sound you would commonly hear on Hindi film soundtracks. The concept, although common in India, was a major step forward for Asian music in the UK as this was the first time this kind of sound was produced outside of India. The album was backed by Mercury Communications, and promoted it as part of their "SMART CALL" campaign

Shama was chosen to sing on Geri Halliwell's (formerly known as Ginger Spice) debut album, Schizophonic. After leaving the enormously popular Spice Girls in May 1998, Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) re-emerged and reinvented herself with SCHIZOPHONIC. The title of the song Shama sang is 'Let Me Love You'. Shama received good reviews for her work with one of the publications also saying: "Let Me Love You" benefits from the dulcet tones of Indian singer Shama ". -www.egyttoday.com

Shama has also recorded on Roddy Frame's (Scottish guitarist/vocalist/songwriter) album, Reason For Living. The title of the song is Biba Nova.
